When the Cause Isn’t Obvious: Staying the Course for Our Member-Owners

At Roanoke Cooperative, reliability is something we never take lightly. When outages occur—especially repeated ones—we know how disruptive and frustrating that can be for the member-owners we serve. Over the past several weeks, member-owners in the areas of Mill Branch Church Road, Tyler School Road, Tyler Road, Teaster Shack Road, and Wilbur Howard Road have experienced more interruptions than anyone would expect or deserve.

We want you to know: we felt that frustration right along with you.

Unlike many outages that can be quickly traced and resolved, this situation proved to be far more complex. Our team has spent countless hours monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting to determine what was causing the recurring disruptions. This was not a cut-and-dry issue—it required persistence, patience, and a commitment to dig deeper than usual.

After extensive investigation, we were able to identify a piece of equipment that was intermittently failing. Because the issue was not consistent, it made detection difficult—but our team never stopped searching. That equipment has now been repaired, and we are hopeful this resolves the ongoing outages in the area.

We know how disruptive repeated power interruptions can be, and we want our member-owners to know that when issues arise, we stay with them until answers are found. That’s the Roanoke way.

If you experience another outage, please report it as soon as possible. You can do so through the Go RC mobile app or by contacting our office directly. Your reports play an important role in helping us respond quickly and continue improving reliability across our system.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your trust. We’re proud to serve you—and we remain committed to keeping the lights on.
