Dear Member-Owners,
As 2025 comes to a close, we are thankful for the progress that has strengthened the services our member-owners rely on every day. Over the last four years, Vision 2025 guided us to enhance the essential services that power our homes, businesses, and schools. One of the largest achievements was expanding fiber throughout our service territory, deploying more than 2,300 miles of fiber that now connects homes, schools, small businesses, farms, and vital community services across our region.
Roanoke Cooperative still owns and manages the fiber network that connects our communities. Fybe — the broadband brand our member-owners know and trust — continues to deliver reliable and dependable service through our partnership with the operating company, eNCore. Thousands of member-owners across our region are now connected through Fybe — and we are excited to see that number continue to grow. Working together, we are keeping our region connected and competitive for the future.
Our growing fiber network also strengthens our ability to attract new jobs and investment to our communities. Many of the counties we serve have experienced population decline over the years, which makes economic development more important than ever. We continue to have encouraging conversations with prospective employers and industries exploring opportunities in our region. Broadband connectivity is a key factor in these discussions, helping position our service area for business growth, stronger local economies, and more opportunities for our member-owners.
Now, we look ahead. Earlier this year, our Board of Directors adopted a refreshed Mission and Vision that reflect the role your cooperative plays in powering what’s possible for our communities:

Vision: To lead the transformation of rural communities into thriving hubs of reliable energy, digital opportunity, and lasting cooperative trust.
These guiding statements shape Connect 2030: Connecting People, Places, and Possibilities — Today, Tomorrow, Together. Connect 2030 builds on the progress we’ve made by focusing on smarter energy operations to reduce outages and improve reliability, access to reliable and dependable broadband, strengthening cybersecurity for system protection, training and developing our workforce to serve you better, supporting economic growth and new opportunities in our region, and deepening engagement with member-owners and communities. This strategy reflects our promise to continue investing in people, technology, and infrastructure to keep our communities strong.
Several major initiatives will continue into 2026, including grid automation tools that improve outage response, upgraded communications systems that support both broadband and electric services, new tools for member-owners to interact with us more efficiently, and greater use of data and technology to operate the system with precision and safety. These efforts keep your lights on longer, restore service faster, and ensure the cooperative remains a responsive energy partner.
