Roanoke Cooperative is excited to announce the Roanoke Cooperative College Scholarship for High School Seniors for the year 2024. This scholarship is designed to support a deserving high school senior who demonstrates a strong understanding of the cooperative way of doing business, exhibits outstanding scholastic and leadership abilities, and has limited financial resources.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Roanoke Cooperative College Scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors whose parents or legal guardians are member-owners of Roanoke Cooperative (RC). The application deadline is April 30 at 5 p.m., and interested students are encouraged to submit their applications by this date.
Selection Criteria:
The selection process will be based on the following criteria:
Need (50%): Demonstrated financial need will be a significant factor in the selection process.
Scholastic Achievement (25%): Applicants should have a strong academic record, showcasing their commitment to education.
Extra-Curricular Activities and Cooperative Question (25%): Outstanding leadership abilities in both school and community activities, as well as a thoughtful response to the cooperative-related question on the application.
Additionally, the selected winner must have been accepted by an accredited two or four-year college or university in North Carolina.
Scholarship Disbursement:
The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college or university according to their payment policy after RC receives confirmation of the recipient's enrollment. If the recipient withdraws from college, any unused funds shall be returned to RC. In the event the recipient receives other full-scholarship assistance, they are required to notify RC and relinquish rights to the scholarship. The funds will then be awarded to the runner-up who continues to meet all requirements.
Award Presentation:
The scholarship winner will be presented with a certificate of the award at Roanoke Cooperative's Annual Meeting, scheduled for the fourth Saturday in August.
