At Roanoke Cooperative, our Annual Meeting is more than just a gathering — it’s a celebration of our member-owners, the heart of everything we do. This year, during our 86th Annual Meeting, we had the privilege of awarding dozens of exciting prizes, including our grand prize: an Ego Zero Turn Lawn Mower.
We recently caught up with several of our prize winners, and their stories reflect exactly why these meetings matter.
Our grand prize winner, Ms. Sarah Robinson, has been a Roanoke Cooperative member-owner for more than 31 years. She’s attended both in-person and virtual meetings and knows how valuable they are for staying connected. She shared, “It’s important to keep up with the reports, hear about new changes, and stay informed about what’s happening. If I ever have questions, I know I can call the office and someone will always take the time to help.”
When her name appeared on the screen as the grand prize winner, Ms. Robinson admits she was stunned: “I was on the phone and in shock. I couldn’t believe it! I’m grateful to the Lord — I’m so happy. It was such a surprise.”
Other prize winners echoed her enthusiasm. One member-owner told us she loves the convenience of the virtual format, sharing, “I was able to listen in while still getting my housework done. It’s easy, and I don’t miss a thing.” Another participant highlighted how much the meeting shows Roanoke’s commitment to progress: “I’m always impressed by the work Roanoke is doing, and the Annual Meeting is proof that things are getting done.”
Several winners also emphasized how informative the meeting was and how much they valued hearing updates directly from their cooperative. As Ms. Robinson summed it up, “It’s very important to participate so you can hear the information firsthand. I love the meeting, and I encourage everyone to get on board.”
Whether it was winning a prize, learning about new programs, or simply staying informed, each story reflects the same theme: the Annual Meeting is an important way for our cooperative family to stay connected.
