Roanoke Cooperative proudly celebrates Mrs. Delores H. Amason for more than 24 years of dedicated service to the Cooperative and the member-owners of District 2 in Halifax County.
Mrs. Amason began serving on Roanoke Cooperative’s Board of Directors on February 25, 2002. Throughout her tenure, she remained a steadfast advocate for member-owners, consistently placing their welfare and quality of life at the center of her work. She concluded her distinguished service on the Board effective August 31, 2026.
In addition to representing District 2, Mrs. Amason served for many years as the Board’s secretary-treasurer. Her thoughtful leadership, sound judgment and careful stewardship earned the respect of her fellow directors and contributed to the Cooperative’s continued growth and progress.
Mrs. Amason also demonstrated a strong commitment to cooperative education and effective governance. She earned the Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate, Board Leadership Certificate and Director Gold Credential from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. These accomplishments reflect her dedication to understanding the evolving electric utility industry and helping position Roanoke Cooperative to meet the changing needs of its member-owners.
Throughout her service, Mrs. Amason emphasized that the welfare and improved quality of life of member-owners should remain central to the Cooperative’s work. She understood the challenges created by changing economic and political conditions and maintained confidence in Roanoke Cooperative’s leadership and employees to navigate those challenges while remaining focused on those they serve.
Over more than two decades, Mrs. Amason offered valuable experience, perspective and guidance as Roanoke Cooperative responded to changes within the energy industry and pursued new opportunities for its member-owners and communities. Her commitment to the cooperative business model and her strong connection to District 2 helped ensure that member-owner interests remained an important part of the Board’s discussions and decisions.

While Mrs. Amason’s departure marks the close of an important chapter, the influence of her leadership will continue to be felt throughout Roanoke Cooperative. Her legacy is one of faithful service, responsible stewardship and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of the member-owners she represented.
Roanoke Cooperative’s Board of Directors will follow the process established in the Cooperative’s bylaws to appoint a successor to represent District 2. Additional information will be shared at the appropriate time.
