2026 Cooperative All-Stars Sports Camp Scholarship Applications Due March 31

The deadline is March 31 for students to apply for a Cooperative All-stars Sports Camp Scholarship from Roanoke Cooperative. Rising sixth and seventh graders can apply for full scholarships to attend basketball camps held at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and N.C. State University this summer.

Roanoke Cooperative will provide one young woman with a scholarship to attend the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp June 14-17 in Raleigh, and one young man the opportunity to attend the Carolina Basketball School June 27-30 in Chapel Hill.

“Empowering young minds through sports not only nurtures athletic prowess but also instills invaluable life skills,” said Basil Williams, Senior Manager of Member Services and Communications. “Our commitment to providing scholarships for aspiring athletes reflects our dedication to fostering talent and enabling opportunities for students in our rural area. We believe in shaping a brighter future for these rising stars, both on and off the court.”

The scholarships cover all expenses at the overnight camps, which provide a glimpse into life on a college campus. Campers stay overnight in college dorms, learn fundamental skills that will help them excel on and off the court, and receive individual and group instruction from Division 1 coaches and players to enhance their basketball and teamwork abilities.

To apply, students must be in the sixth or seventh grade during the 2026-2027 school year and submit the online application by March 31.

“Over the years in coaching and watching talent develop, I have found that athletic skill and potential are not bound by where you live, where you go to school, or your background,” said NC State University Women’s Basketball Coach Wes Moore. “Because of this partnership with North Carolina’s electric cooperatives, we can help kids from all over the state attend our camp and discover their true potential on and off the court.” More than 50 students will be awarded Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships from electric cooperatives in North Carolina, including Roanoke Cooperative this year. Now in its 21st year, the scholarship program demonstrates the electric cooperatives’ commitment to building a brighter future through continued support for education and youth initiatives.
